For the last 3, 4 days, I’ve been doing nothing but chatting in Yahoo chat rooms. Ya Ya, you may consider it boring and with communicational revolution here in my country, i wasn’t expecting even guys to come online to chat public. Anyhow, I’ve been mostly to Regional Lobbies and Pakistan. The experience was cool and surprising at times. I’ll share few things that i learned as well as my observation of public chatting.

For really newbies in chatting, well the only thing identifies you on chat is your “Nick Name”. Be a little innovative with that. If i was an ordinary girl, nicks like “hot boy” “Smart Guy” “Iam 2 Cool” won’t be impressing me a lot. The point is the girl on the other side would be expecting too much from you and if you give a reply which is a turn off for her, you are screwed. So if a guy from subcontinent, make nicks a bit interesting and appealing like i use to remember a nick from MIRC “Chowkidaar” and that guy almost ruled there just coz he was known as “Chowkidaar bhai”. What actually i said doesn’t apply to girls.. the more your nick is “Hot girl” “sweet girl” be ready to be bombed with private messages.

So you got a nick which is innovative and suits your personality? the next is the ‘way’ to start a private chat. I tell you what? the days of “Hi, wanna chat” are gone.. specially if you have pmed (terminology used for private messaging) a Pakistani girl.. It’s up to you how get the gal sticked to your window only. I tested myself with various startups,  “Hi, wanna chat”, “Hi, asl? “, “Hi, how you doing” “Hello” etc etc.. The least reply i got with “Hi, asl?”  (you expect a girl to tell her age, sex, location before you do? you are a moron) “Hi, wanna chat” was replied with 1 out of 50 pms’ (pretty much low). The best reply i got was from “Knock Knock, anybody home”, “Meao, can i say Hi” etc. If you chatting with a chick from Pak, “AOA, aunty kaisi hain”, “Salam arz hai sir jee” “Kaisay ho janab” are your best bet.. Ah comon don’t consider me cheap it’s just a research.. lol

For guys, don’t expect a girl to send message to you unless you are really well known or good with voice chat in the main window. Girls normally don’t need to send pms’. If you are gal and really had a crush on a voice or  loved the accent of a particular chat and you need to speak to the guy while your ego still intact.. simply hit the nick and send a dot.. i mean send “.” he’ll definitely ask for asl and here you go with your conversation. This could be really helpful for Pakistani girls.

Chat environments have changed a bit too. Like you would hardly find any girl, especially my country mates on voice chats, but nowadays as soon as you cross 12am you’ll listen to sweet voices time to time. PK girls have turned wild a bit. Speaking about voice chatting, it’s all up to you that how you talk and communicate. With me on mic thrice in the last couple of days, I really dominate the room with keeping the chat environment smooth, soft and cool. Greet new people irrespective of their gender. Use good terms like brother.. bhai.. etc etc. Do respect and have respect is the order. However some morons do appear and start abuse for nothing. Don’t get yourself into any fight or so, your fingers crashing the keyboard and the roaring and shouting abuses over mic won’t make difference to anybody. Simple solution to that is, right click the nick and ignore.

I would’ve continued, but its already turned way too long. Anyways, Chatting in Yahoo isn’t that of an art.. be yourself and you’ll get really good friends.  Happy Chatting fellows !
